Magical Stays in Ice Hotels

December 3, 2015

Every year, while some travelers go on vacation to new destinations or revisit places they have been to before, others seek a more adventurous jaunt. For them, staying in an ice hotel can be the most memorable and magical stay in their lives.

Have you ever thought about staying in some uniquely built hotels that are carved out of ice? If so, you are in luck! You can find ice hotels in such diverse places as Finland, Sweden, Norway, Romania, and Canada.

The ice hotel of Sweden is situated in Jukkasjarvi village, and is accessible from December to April every year. When the summer season sets in, the ice melts and next year the hotel is reconstructed all over again.

With a capacity of approximately 60 people, the Alta Igloo Hotel in Norway is another ice-hotel you may want to visit. Enjoy drinking your favorite wine in a glass made out of ice, and served from a bar that is also constructed out of ice. Though the temperature is -5º Celsius, you will soon adjust to it.

The Snow Castle, located in Kemi, Finland, is another ice hotel with the exception that its doors are made of wood and it has standard light bulbs. In addition, there are no beds available in this hotel. Vacationers sleep in sleeping bags. The Snow Castle has been touted as the largest igloo in the world. This newly designed castle will be open January 30 through April 5, 2010.

If you live in America, you can easily cross the border into Canada and enjoy a fun stay at Hôtel de Glace in Quebec. Celebrating its 10th Anniversary, the Hotel de Glace is open from January 4 to April 2010. They have four different packages that are sure to become the most memorable vacation experience of your life.

When the first ice hotel made its debut on the travel channel, it was more out of curiosity than anything else that travelers booked reservations to these unique places. Today, more ice hotels are emerging, offering seasoned travelers the adventure of a lifetime.
